Debian Science Typesetting packages

AUCTeX è un ambiente integrato completo e personalizzabile per scrivere con GNU Emacs file di input per TeX/LaTeX/ConTeXt/Texinfo. Al momento XEmacs viene distribuito con una propria versione di AUCTeX.

Supporta l'elaborazione dei file sorgente con TeX e altri strumenti relativi a TeX (come filtri di output, post-processori per la generazione di indici o bibliografie e visualizzatori) dall'interno di Emacs. AUCTeX permette di sfogliare gli errori riportati da TeX, mentre muove il cursore direttamente all'errore riportato e mostra la documentazione riguardante quel particolare errore. Ciò funziona anche quando il documento è composto da più file.

AUCTeX può indentare automaticamente i sorgenti LaTeX, riga per riga o un intero documento ed ha una speciale funzione per indicizzare i documenti la quale può aiutare moltissimo ad avere una panoramica di un documento.

AUCTeX è scritto interamente in Emacs-Lisp e perciò vi si possono facilmente aggiungere nuove funzionalità per i propri scopi. Contiene un ampio ventaglio di utili macro. È un progetto GNU, la documentazione per tutte le funzionalità è accessibile tramite il browser info di Emacs.

Il pacchetto biblatex di Philipp Lehman sta diventando lo strumento definitivo per la gestione delle citazioni per gli utenti di LaTeX. biblatex ha fatto assegnamento sul vecchio programma BibTeX solamente per ordinare e generare un file .bbl molto generico senza alcuna istruzione di formattazione. Qualsiasi altra cosa è controllata da biblatex, che fornisce un'interfaccia per macro potente e flessibile per gli autori di stili per citazioni.

Biber offre un vasto sovrainsieme delle funzionalità di BibTeX per gli utenti BibLaTeX. Inoltre fornisce funzionalità UTF-8 (Unicode 6.0) complete, ordinamento completamente personalizzabile, uscita su GraphViz per aiutare a visualizzare i riferimenti incrociati complessi, gestione di sorgenti dati remote, validazione strutturale dei dati in funzione del modello dei dati (personalizzabile) e molto altro.

Bibus è un database bibliografico sviluppato pensando a LibreOffice/OpenOffice.org. È in grado di inserire direttamente citazioni e di formattare un indice bibliografico in un documento aperto di Writer di OpenOffice.org. Le funzionalità principali sono:

• organizzazione gerarchica dei riferimenti in base a chiavi definite dall'utente;
• progettato per ambienti multi-utente (database condivisi tra gli utenti);
• motore di ricerca che supporta interrogazioni live;
• accesso online a PubMed;
• importazione di voci di PubMed (Medline), EndNote/Refer, RIS e BibTeX.

Bibus usa in modo predefinito un database SQLite per l'archiviazione (attraverso il modulo SQLite3 disponibile in Python versione superiore alla 2.5). Supporta però anche i database MySQL. Se si vuole usare un database MySQL, ci si assicuri di avere il pacchetto python-mysqldb installato.

Converte tra i seguenti formati per dati bibliografici: <BibTeX, COPAC, EndNote refer, EndNote XML, Pubmed XML, ISI web of science, MODS XML della Biblioteca del Congresso degli Stati Uniti, RIS e bibliografie Word 2007.

Questo pacchetto fornisce gli strumenti a riga di comando bib2xml, copac2xml, end2xml endx2xml, isi2xml, med2xml, ris2xml che convertono nel formato MODS XML, modsclean che riformatta MODS XML e l'insieme corrispondente di comandi xml2ads, xml2bib, xml2end, xml2isi, xml2ris, xml2wordbib che convertono da MODS XML.

cb2bib è un programma per estrarre riferimenti bibliografici da fonti non formattate e non standard come:

• segnalazioni e-mail;
• pagine web di riviste;
• soprattutto file PDF.

I riferimenti in uscita sono scritti su file in formato BibTeX. Altre funzionalità sono:

• file di articoli possono essere collegati e rinominati trascinandoli sulla finestra cb2Bib;
• modifica e esplorazione di file BibTeX;
• citazione dei riferimenti, ricerca dei riferimenti e del contenuto completo dei documenti corrispondenti a riferimenti;
• inserimento di metadati bibliografici nei documenti;
• scrittura di brevi note per correlare diversi riferimenti.

Dia è un editor di diagrammi, grafici, diagrammi di flusso, ecc. Supporta i diagrammi delle strutture statiche UML (diagrammi di classe), diagrammi Entità-Relazione, diagrammi di rete e molto altro. I diagrammi possono essere esportati in formato PostScript e in molti altri formati.

Debian GNU/Linux è ampiamente utilizzato nelle università per fare ricerca e scrivere articoli con LaTeX. Il pacchetto diploma contiene esempi che illustrano i modi possibili di realizzare queste attività efficacemente con Debian GNU/Linux. Ogni esempio è costituito da un albero sorgente dove si può eseguire un "make" nella directory di livello più alto e, in questo modo, il codice sorgente viene compilato, i dati delle misurazioni sono processati ed i risultati sono convertiti in figure ben fatte. In seguito il testo viene processato e combinato con le figure in un file di stampa.

FeynMF è un pacchetto LaTeX per disegnare facilmente diagrammi di Feynman di qualità professionale, illustrazioni che descrivono le interazioni fondamentali delle particelle subatomiche. I diagrammi possono essere creati usando il programma Metafont o MetaPost. FeynMF impagina la maggior parte dei diagrammi in maniera soddisfacente dalla struttura del grafo senza nessun bisogno di un intervento manuale. Tuttavia tutte le potenzialità di Metafont e MetaPost sono disponibili per casi più oscuri.

Notare che si avrà bisogno del pacchetto texlive-metapost per poter usare la versione di FeynMF basata su MetaPost.

Un insieme di utilità per manipolare PostScript aderenti a DSC. Sono inclusi i seguenti programmi:

impose: Un pre-processore per pstops per creare stampe con due pagine in una. Tenta di rimuovere lo spazio bianco dalla stampa leggendo i margini dell'area di stampa dal PostScript di partenza. Ciò migliora l'estetica del risultato rispetto alla semplicistica giustapposizione delle pagine originali non tagliate.

bboxx: Estrae i riquadri di delimitazione da un file PostScript, con la possibilità di inserirli nel file. Questo programma usa il dispositivo bbox di ghostscript.

fixtd: Imposta le opzioni di un file PostScript chiedendo alla stampante di utilizzare la stampa fronte e retro "tumbling" o "duplex".

psbl: Riordina le pagine in un file per produrre un libretto.

JabRef è un'applicazione Java grafica per modificare database BibTeX (.bib); permette di organizzare le proprie voci in gruppi logici anche sovrapposti e con un singolo clic limita la visualizzazione ad un solo gruppo o all'intersezione o l'unione di diversi gruppi. Le informazioni su una voce mostrate nella finestra principale possono essere personalizzate e ordinate in base a uno qualunque dei campi BibTeX standard. JabRef può generare automaticamente chiavi BibTeX per voci; permette anche di creare facilmente collegamenti a PDF o fonti web per le proprie voci bibliografiche.

JabRef può importare ed esportare da e in diversi formati ed è possibile personalizzare i filtri d'esportazione. JabRef può essere eseguito come un'applicazione a riga di comando al fine di convertire da un qualsiasi formato di input in un qualsiasi formato di output.

JEuclid is a complete MathML rendering solution, consisting of:

This package contains the Swing MathViewer application.

Applicazione per gestire database bibliografici nel formato BibTeX. KBibTeX può essere usata come programma autonomo, ma può anche essere integrata in altre applicazioni KDE (ad esempio come editor bibliografico in Kile).

KBibTeX può interrogare risorse in rete (ad es., Google Scholar) attraverso URL di ricerca personalizzabili. È inoltre capace di importare insiemi di dati completi da NCBI Pubmed. Supporta anche l'etichettatura dei riferimenti con parole chiave e gestisce i riferimenti a file locali.

I file BibTeX possono essere esportati in formato HTML, XML, PDF, PS e RTF usando svariati stili di citazione.

latexdiff confronta due file LaTeX ed evidenzia le differenze significative tra di essi (cioè esegue una diff tra file LaTeX). Genera un nuovo file LaTeX contenente le differenze trovate.

Diverse opzioni sono disponibili per marcare le differenze usando pacchetti LaTeX predefiniti come "color.sty". Le modifiche che non alterano direttamente il testo visibile, per esempio nei comandi di formattazione, sono comunque evidenziate nel sorgente LaTeX.

Una funzionalità di revisione rudimentale è fornita da un altro script Perl: "latexrevise", che accetta o rifiuta tutte le modifiche. Si può ricorrere a modifiche manuali del file delle differenze per superare questo comportamento predefinito e accettare o rifiutare soltanto le modifiche selezionate.

JLaTeXmath library provides a set of Java classes for displaying (complex) mathematical formulas as part of a Java application. Some use cases are:

• Displaying text with embedded formulas (in an editor pane, a JavaHelp page, ...)
• Make a combo box which provides the user with a choice between various formulas.
• Have a slider with ticks that display their values not as decimal numbers, but as exact values, e.g., fractions, square roots or any combination of these.
• Display the formula together with the graph of a function.

LyX è un'interfaccia grafica per LaTeX quasi WYSIWYG. Rende la potenza e la qualità del LaTeX accessibili anche alle persone abituate a usare programmi di videoscrittura. Sfruttando il concetto di markup generico proprio del LaTeX, creare documenti di qualità professionale è persino più facile e veloce che usando i programmi di videoscrittura tradizionali. È anche possibile usare comandi LaTeX all'interno di LyX, in modo da non perdere alcuna delle potenzialità del LaTeX.

• mythes-*: uso dei dizionari dei sinonimi di OpenOffice.org/LibreOffice;
• noweb: importazione file noweb;
• rcs: controllo delle versioni integrato;
• sgmltools-lite: esportazione in formato SGML DocBook;
• texlive-xetex, etoolbox: uso del sistema di impaginazione XeTeX;
• wv: importazione di documenti MS Word.

Mlpost è una libreria OCaml per disegno scientifico. Si appoggia a Metapost, rendendo possibile l'inclusione di frammenti (La)TeX. Gli utenti di Mlpost possono usufruire della piena potenza di OCaml per generare i propri diagrammi, includendo codice statico e la possibilità di usare qualsiasi libreria OCaml. In più, Mlpost promuove uno stile dichiarativo leggermente diverso dagli strumenti esistenti.

Questo pacchetto contiene uno strumento a riga di comando per facilitare la generazione di figure in PostScript o PDF direttamente da file .ml.

Attualmente supporta file BibTeX, Medline, Ovid e Refer. È utile per visualizzare, modificare, cercare ma anche convertire database bibliografici, per esempio in pagine HTML.

Per vedere il manuale di Pybliographic dall'interno dell'interfaccia grafica è necessario Yelp (che fa parte di GNOME).

Referencer è un'applicazione GNOME per organizzare documenti o riferimenti e da ultimo generare un file bibliografico BibTeX. Referencer include svariate funzionalità per rendere il tutto più facile:

• recupero automatico dei metadati da PubMed, CrossRef e ArXiv,
• collegamenti web intelligenti,
• importazione da BibTeX, Reference Manager e EndNote,
• etichettatura.

Sketch è un sistema semplice per produrre disegni di oggetti e scenari tridimensionali. Sketch è pensato per produrre illustrazioni finemente dettagliate e matematicamente corrette senza dettagli esterni e per potere sovrapporre facilmente testi e elementi matematici TeX. Il linguaggio d'input ricorda PSTricks perciò sarà facile da imparare per chi ora usa PSTricks. Genera come output o codice PSTricks o TikZ/PGF.

Si noti che questo pacchetto non è il programma di disegno vettoriale interattivo che ora si chiama skencil.

La distribuzione software TeX Live offre un sistema TeX completo. Racchiude programmi per la composizione, l'anteprima e la stampa di documenti TeX in molte lingue diverse, nonché una nutrita raccolta di macro per TeX e librerie di caratteri.

GNU TeXmacs è un editor libero per testi scientifici, che si ispira sia a TeX sia a GNUEmacs.

L'editor permette di scrivere documenti strutturati attraverso un'interfaccia WYSIWYG (quello che vedi è quello che ottieni) facile da usare. L'utente può creare nuovi stili. Il programma implementa algoritmi di impaginazione di alta qualità e i tipi di carattere TeX; questo aiuta a produrre documenti dall'aspetto professionale.

L'alta qualità di impaginazione si vede anche nelle formule generate automaticamente, il che rende TeXmacs adatto come interfaccia per sistemi di algebra al computer. TeXmacs supporta anche il linguaggio di estensione Guile/Scheme in modo che sia possibile personalizzare l'interfaccia e scrivere le proprie estensioni per l'editor.

GtkMathView is a C++ rendering engine for MathML documents. It provides an interactive view that can be used for browsing and editing MathML markup.

GtkMathView reads MathML documents by means of a frontend whose purpose is to traverse the MathML document (or part of it) and to appropriately instantiate GtkMathView's internal data structures that are suitable for rendering it. Currently the following frontends are supported: libxml2 (tree view using libxml2 API), libxml2 reader (event view using libxml2 reader API), GMetaDOM (tree view using DOM API), custom (application-specific view with application-provided callbacks).

GtkMathView renders MathML documents through a backend whose purpose is to provide an interface between the portable rendering engine and the platform-specific capabilities (like retrieving fonts, drawing on the screen, and so on). Texmaker è un editor LaTeX pulito, ampiamente configurabile con una buona gestione delle scorciatoie da tastiera e un'estesa documentazione LaTeX.
